I live in a retirement community in Southern California, mostly Christian. Old people who have never seen anything like what we are currently experiencing, like people breaking into shops and stealing things and not being held accountable, being told that if we are white, we oppress black people, cancel culture, and cancel the qualities and beliefs system that made our country great, perhaps the greatest in recorded history, Christian principles and practice and free enterprise. We have been and are the most generous people on the planet coming, I believe from Godly principles found in the Word of God. Just take three examples:
Acts 20:32-35 - Jesus tells us it is more blessed to give than receive.
Matthew 10:8 - Freely you have received, freely give.
Hebrews 23:16 - Do not forget to do good and share with others.
These are but a few of the Scriptures that tell us to give to those in need.
But to those of us who are Christian, how are we to think about what is happening in our country? If the Republicans can dump the rascals that are ruling over us, who seem to be intent, many of them, on giving us a socialist/communist system, what would it mean for those of us who would be forced under that system? It would be nothing short of tragic. I know because I lived in communist Albania in the late 1990s. Never have I witnessed anything so tragic.
I am told that “Christians” are abandoning the church. Nothing remotely Christian can be found in our public schools. Long ago we had school prayer, Christian principles and the Bible taught in our schools and as a consequence, we had a more moral and stable society than what we have today.
Let me say it boldly and without reservation, we need Jesus. Jesus should be more important than any politician or any political party. Jesus is the path to life. So tell me, you say, why is Jesus so important and what does he provide?
The source of our information comes from the Word of God, the Bible. The Bible is an inerrant, unchanging source of Truth. II Timothy 3:16 tells us “All Scripture is breathed of God and is profitable for teaching, rebuking and training in righteousness that the servant of God may be equipped for every good work.”
So who is this Jesus? He is the Son of God and God the Son. He came that we might have life and have it to the full. He came to redeem fallen men and women from their state of sin. He did so by going to the cross to pay for our sin, shedding His precious blood thereby making full atonement and reconciling us to God.
The life Jesus gives impacts our destiny both temporal and eternal. If we accept Him as our Savior, our ultimate destiny is heaven and our temporal is that we become more like Jesus, as we reflect on the love of Jesus we emulate His personage - generous, selfless, forgiving, patient, truthful, compassionate, humility.
As we put our faith in Him, Hebrews 11:1 tells us: “Faith is the substance of things hoped for and evidence of things not seen.” John 3:36 says, “He who has the Son has life, but he who rejects the Son does not have life but the wrath of God abides on him.” So what is your life like? Do you have life?
Today walk with the King (Jesus) and be a blessing!
