Thanks to Caroline Chestnut for the summary of the history and role of school boards, which reminds us they represent all the voters in the community, not just parents.

Every voter needs to pay attention to what’s happening with them. Don’t let the only voices the board and community hear not include you. Be informed of who you are voting for, attend school board meetings or at least watch the replays, and read and write to the local papers voicing your views including support and constructive input.
