Coronadans: Because of top down zoning mandates from the State government we are in danger of incurring great harm to or even destruction of our way of life with the precipitous addition of the 1100+ living units thrust upon us on this small, crowded island. Recalling the entire legislature is impossible so please call for the removal of a smug, callow, vainglorious Governor with slicked back hair. Recall is the quickest way to get the attention of our representatives.
The zoning mandate is only one of many statewide issues. Others include sky high fuel prices, recurrent utility blackouts, exorbitant taxes, wildfires, rampant homelessness and petty crime, deteriorating infrastructure, efforts to abolish Prop 13, non performing public schools, and out of control public pensions. The Governor’s recent actions regarding rent control and the death penalty were in direct opposition to recent votes of the people. He has signed a death warrant for the gig economy. He gratuitously foists blame on private concerns like PG&E for public policy mistakes. Californians can be lucky and those among us without much material wealth have been able to live like the wealthy, but this will not go on under such maladroit rule.
The response of our city council to the zoning matter has so far seemed insipid.
The future of our town and state is in doubt. Anybody who values our way of life should sign the recall petition. Saying “no” won’t hurt.
