I feel compelled to address Ms. Prewitt’s recent letter of June 12, 2019. It appears from that letter and from her previous letters, that she, like many other well-meaning Liberal voters, actually believe that the Democrat Party truly cares about the “poor, powerless and oppressed in American society” other than as a voting bloc that they can keep dependent and buy with handouts. For those who believe otherwise, I recommend that they consider the following, and to plagiarize a title from Al (The Sky Is Falling) Gore, realize the “Inconvenient Truth!”

Research the “War on Poverty,” legislation that was passed in 1964 in response to the then poverty rate of 19%. At the time, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, a then prominent Democrat, published an explosive statistical report (“The Negro Family: The Case For National Action”) stating that the American black family was under stress. It is a complicated and multi-facetted concept, but if you transfer the financial responsibility of the black family to the government, Black families will fail. Today, poverty among African Americans is at about 21%!

When candidate Trump implied that if he lost the election, he might challenge the results, the Left became apoplectic, predicting the end of the world as we know it! But the impossible happened, he won, so how did the Left respond (now this is real immaturity!):virtual open borders (although virtually every major Democrat was historically on tape decrying illegal immigration!), moves to discontinue the Electoral College (established in the Constitution), moves to lower the voting age to 16, moves to allow jailed and ex-felons to vote, amnesty for DACA, a “free” everything Socialist platform, etc. The Left believed that after eight years of Obama, the country was theirs for the taking. When that went south, their plan is to not only import new potential voters they can buy and keep dependent, but also buy existing voters with Medicare for all, free college, reparations for slavery, relief of student debt, ad nauseam! It has been comical to watch the gaggle of Democrat hopefuls, out bid each other in the Democrat candidate auction.

One last data point. During the Obama administration, our “hero,” Barrack Obama bragged about how many people he added to the SNAP (food stamps) program. And, our “heroine,” Nancy Pelosi, declared that food stamps are a “great economic stimulator.” The last time I looked, food stamps won’t purchase houses, cars, educations, etc., but a job will! Under President Trump, unemployment for blacks, hispanics, etc. are at their lowest historical levels. But rather than helping the President make those numbers even better, the Democrats persist in “resisting” and promoting impeachment proceedings in search of “high crimes and misdemeanors” that simply don’t exist.

The concept that Russia favored Trump over Clinton is laughable! Trump was an unknown, but it was clear that Clinton was careless and weak and could be bought (research Uranium One and the history of the Clinton Foundation). Finally, pursuing President Trump’s taxes is another attempt to find a Russia connection which several investigations, including the Mueller Report, failed to find. We know how President Trump made his fortune. It would be interesting to learn how 50% of House/Senate made their millions when only about 6% of our population has been so fortunate!
