I would like to thank the Coronado Eagle & Journal for its unbiased coverage of political issues, Jerry Greenspan who is so educated on political issues and the Starbuck employees, Anthony, friends, patrons and Coronado students who have so generously given of their wisdom to help me with my writing skills. Having lived here for 50 years, I never cease to be taken with the leadership skills of the Coronado military community and also their wives.

I am writing over my deep concern with the radical Right Conservative movement, which I learned from my resent graduate research is growing. This is not to be compared with Conservatives, who can be either Democrats or Republicans, depending on their political preference. For example, former Senator John McCain voted to keep the Affordable Care Act. Former President Bill Clinton hurt welfare families, and poor Hispanic and Afro-American prisoners with what was falsely labeled prison reform and welfare reform laws. The result is these groups lack the resources to lift themselves permanently out of poverty.

Michael Friedman’s letter “A Brief History Lesson,” dated March 26, 2019, seems to be arguing for the morality of the Radical Right Conservative ideology. Although Friedman did not have courage to admit it, he appears to be comparing the Democratic party with the Fascist Hitler Republic. The balance of this letter will discuss the basic American values, the ideology of the Democratic Party and the ideology of the Radical Right Conservative people which is close to being a fascist republic.

America’s greatness is due to the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The American flag, national anthem, and Statue of Liberty all symbolize the greatness of this country. After and during World War II, America gave freedom to millions of Jews. This is the opposite of fascist Germany who tortured and killed many Jews. America was founded on democracy, not on monarchy.

The Democratic party is fighting to reverse a war on welfare. The war on welfare began under Reagan’s power. As a result, we now have one of the highest poverty levels in the world; hunger and homelessness exist in large numbers. Social Security, unemployment insurance, Medicare, Worker’s Compensation, affordable housing, loans for college, good schools are just a few of the programs the Democratic Party fights for.

The Radical Right Conservative ideology has an agenda which everyone may not agree with. Her are some of the core values: increase the age to receive Social Security to 70; privatize health care; tax breaks for the rich; cut and dismantle programs for children, elderly, disabled and poor; an immigration policy where a wall is built and based on hatred and racism; and make a work requirement for food stamps, Medicaid and subsidized housing.

If a person has all three government grants, many hours a month are spent on these programs. Vital time is taken away from individuals of families looking for meaningful work to meet the program requirements. In this ideology, the poor are kept poor to keep a labor pool well known to sociology scholars. The poor are also seen as lazy, immoral and not wanting to work.

In conclusion, the Democratic party is not a reflection of a fascist American society. The Democratic party and some liberal Republicans are crossing party lines and valiantly fighting for the poor and middle class.

Founder James Madison’s brilliant checks and balance may keep us from a fascist dictator. George Washington, in his farewell address, warned a dictator personality might come into the presidency. Trump and the right radical movement are dangerous to our country and the world, because they focus on programs benefiting the rich, friends and family. Trump, and his lies and corruption, need to be address by Congress.

Coronado has heroes who are true patriots and who want to see American Great Again. Please contact me to address Congress with the present social problem.
