The Friends of the Coronado Public Library (FOL) celebrated their 50th anniversary by hosting a Night at the Library on Feb. 7. The event included dinner, refreshments, a silent auction and music performed by two COSA students. Guests enjoyed the unique opportunity to enjoy our great library after it closed. It was a wonderful evening celebrating the Friends Golden Jubilee, and was more special as several founding members and family members of former board members and officers were in attendance.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we thank all the volunteers and library staff members who helped at the event. Special appreciation goes to Senior Librarian Eileen Hauser and Library Director Shaun Briley who helped us plan the event and assisted throughout the evening.

We received generous support from many sponsors including Ken Pecus with Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty, Coronado Brewing Company, City of Coronado Recreation Department, Coronado Playhouse, Coronado Vintage, Captured by Venus, Roger Clapp, Fair Trade Décor, Geppetto’s Toys, Holland’s Bicycles, Hotel del Coronado, Hotel Marisol, Il Fornaio, La Jolla Playhouse, McP’s Irish Pub, Muhl Jewelers, Nado Gelato, Paseano Services, Root 75 Flowers & Home, Taste of Oils, The Henry Restaurant, Wine a Bit, Maritime Museum of San Diego, San Diego Museum of Man, San Diego Auto Museum, San Diego Natural History Museum, San Diego Air and Space Museum. If we overlooked a sponsor it was unintentional.

The event was a successful fund raiser for the FOL. All funds raised by the FOL support library programs for children, teens and adults. In 2019- 2020 the Friends provided $60,000 to fund library programs.

Lastly, we thank our members for their continued support that help make our Library the cultural center of our community.
