Once again thank you Coronado for your support. The Coronado Police Department recently hosted a dinner to honor the Police Department’s SVP Unit (Senior Volunteer Patrol). The event was held at the Coronado Golf Course banquet room. Along with the Police Department’s command staff in attendance, the mayor, city councilpersons and the city manager were there participating in the awards and recognition ceremony. Each year SVP members are recognized for their five, 10 and 15 years of service. Special awards are also given for outstanding service in various areas. Those members who retired during the year are also recognized.

For the past seven years, we have worked diligently to make this evening more than just a dinner event. In past years we have reached out to our realtors, contractors, merchants and restaurant owners asking for their assistance. Again this year they have provided the wine for our wine bar reception before dinner, as well as gift cards to local restaurants and businesses. Not only was the wine bar reception a great ice breaker, but we were able to provide each of our volunteers with a gift card to a local restaurant or merchant.

At this time, from all of us at the SVP, we would like to express our appreciation to the mayor, city council, city manager, Coronado Police Department command staff and all the friends of the SVP who participated.

This year’s support team was Debbie Riddle form Ascent Real Estate, Cavanaugh construction, Dino Morabito of the Morabito Real Estate Group, Carrie O’Brien, broker from Flagship Properties, Ed McVaney, Bistro D’Asia, Blue Bridge Hospitality, Boney’s Bayside Market, Brigantine Restaurant, Café 1134, Calypso Café at the Cays, Central Liquor and Deli, Coronado Hardware, Il Fornaio Restaurant, Nicky Rottens Bar & Burger Joint, Tartine Café and from the following SVP members: Lynda Balkam, Gail Clarkin, Louis Semon and John Meyers.

The SVP continues to be here for the community, to help where needed and be the eyes and ears of the Coronado Police Department.

Thank you from all of us on the 2019 event committee.
