As we continue the reopening process, it’s important to remember that not only is the pandemic still with us, it’s actually gaining momentum. Wishing it were gone or ignoring it does not make it go away. As Richard Feynman famously said in the Challenger disaster report, “…reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled.”
So far, we’ve done a good job of flattening the curve so as not to overwhelm hospitals. But that can change quickly. Wearing masks while in public and within six feet of others not only slows the spread of the virus, it is now mandated in California. In addition, it is recommended by the CDC, WHO, Mayo Clinic, US Surgeon General, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and Dr. Deborah Birx among many others. So please consider wearing a mask when you’re out. And, if you’re not wearing a mask, please keep at least six feet away from others.
As an at-risk individual, I will thank you for your care and consideration. And I know the hospitals staffs will also.
