In response to Mr. Meurer’s letter “Unsafe and Inadequate,” I would like to point out that many of the bikers in and around Coronado are not observant of the rules of the road as relates to riding. I have seen kids on bikes doing wheelies on Orange Avenue regardless of traffic. Parents do not teach their children to stop at stop signs, but whiz right on through, with their kids right behind them. Groups of bikers ride three and four across the lanes, oblivious to traffic in the area. We could have bike lanes on every street in the community, but nothing would change.

The only way we can see an improvement in safety is to abide by the rules. I would suggest that bikers, and drivers remember their manners in all situations, and reacquaint themselves with the law. Sharing the road works both ways.
