I am generally not the sort of person inclined to speak at school board meetings. But last week, on the spur of the moment, I felt compelled to take the microphone to rebut a barrage of hateful anti-LGBTQ comments made by several other people in the audience.

These speakers parroted the nationwide effort by right-wing extremists to make gender and sexual issues the most prominent topic at local school board meetings.

This cynical and sinister politicization of education adds to the considerable difficulties LGBTQ youth already experience and provides an open invitation to bullying.

One speaker at the meeting seemed as upset by the homophobic vitriol as I was. I learned there are nearly 2 million LGBTQ youth in the U.S., and that 45% contemplated suicide in 2022. These kids often feel threatened, are in emotional distress, and can’t allow themselves to be their authentic selves.

We must oppose the normalization of hate speech. We cannot permit a small minority of radical bigots to control our educational agenda. We must protect all our children and model toleration and sensitivity.

Please join me at future school board meetings and help me stand up to these misguided bullies.

We must oppose the normalization of hate speech. We cannot permit a small minority of radical bigots to control our educational agenda". This is clearly states the intentions of those who want to impose their "world-views" upon your children. The intellectual elites who begged and pleaded with you to follow the "science" are now asking to ignore the realities of biology and science.

Their mission is implied in these comments. It is hate speech to warn against the sexual indoctrination of children. These people think is a normal and a good thing to expose children as young as possible to sexual experiences and information at an age even before nature would normally do it! The push by these people to expose your children to a lifestyle according to this writer where "45% contemplated suicide", and then blame those who object to this exploitation is insane. You can continue to willingly sacrifice your children to these delusional people, or you can simple ask why do we want to expose children who have not even entered into puberty, to sexual teaching that would encourage them to take puberty blocking drugs and then to surgically remove their bodies parts? And to do so with or without parental consent! I ask who is extreme???

Sir, this is just recycled gay panic from the 1970s. Many of us remember Anita Bryant and her crusade against gays to "protect children." None of this is original, none of it is remotely interesting, and it's quite embarrassing, if we're being honest. Gay panic again in 2023 to "protect children?" I sure hope no one is falling for it this time around and if you are, ask yourself why.

I am sorry you feel this way. It is not a "gay" panic, it is a real concern. Teaching children and providing children with sexually explicit material, that I cannot be shared in public settings, is destructive. Mandating that teachers cannot inform parents that children are struggling with their sexual genders and only allowing their teachers and counselors to be their source of information and ethics is terrifying! You may call it a "gay" panic, but allowing the "educated" elites the opportunities to drug children with gender blocking drugs or worst to surgically remove their genitals is and will always be insane. This is already the law of the land! It is not a panic, stop trying to distract from the real issues. We do not care what adults do in their own private rooms. You have that right. But abusing children with the help of government and the educated elites should be opposed, and rejected. Children are being used and abused and to many are dying!

"Mandating that teachers cannot inform parents that children are struggling with their sexual genders and only allowing their teachers and counselors to be their source of information and ethics is terrifying! " When and where is this happen? Please be specific. When I word search Mandates this does come up.

Your characterization of this issue is an overreach. A nation wide mandate that allows "elite opportunist" to prescribe drugs and arrange surgery for minors is significantly different than a policy that "........might be required........." . for teachers to treat some information as confidential. The case brought by the two teachers will test the legal "grounding" of a policy, if enacted.
