This letter is written in response to Michael Fridgen’s letter in the Coronado Eagle and Journal dated Nov. 7, 2013, “the Big Lies.” Steve Falstrup, a long time Coronado resident is a hero. First we are an immigrant nation. Our great lady of the Statue of Liberty represents a beacon on hope for those fleeing, political oppression. Poverty and violence are forms of oppression. I believe that our Constitution mandates asylum for people fleeing such intolerable circumstances. These brave people can receive resources from taxing oil, alcohol and cigarettes.

First, the tax breaks went to the rich, while the middle class who pay heavy taxes, represent the backbone of our country and is hard working, received only a small share of the cuts. Second, true patriotism, which is what the liberal position fights for is passing laws that end all injustices. The radical conservative position agenda is to a as stated gave tax cuts for the rich and reduced social programs. However, not all Republicans adhere to this ideology and many good ones fight for social justice. The results of this philosophy are homeless, hungry and starving people, who do not have the resources to have a good quality of life.

Trump’s relationship to women’s values is not commendable. Afro Americans still suffer from discrimination in housing and segregation in employment. The Russian investigation is a large social problem. There is mounting evidence that Trump was involved. Proof appears to be in the more than three officials who have been found guilty in the heroic work of Special Counselor Robert Mueller III.

In summary, Trump has not been honest in dealing with Americans. Perhaps, Coronado residents might work and form a team to help make America great again. Coronado has many leaders, experienced heroes who served their country well, pay their taxes and make a contribution to society. I with more of them, like the former Senator John McCain, would run for Congress.
