In Elliot Schubert’s letter he states that “Racial Profiling is Not OK.” I contend that not using your turn signal is not OK either.

In research from the Society of Automotive Engineering, it says that failure to use turn signals results in more than twice the number of accidents than is caused by distracted driving. The fact that Mr. Schubert says that, “It happens a million times a day and no one gets stopped,” makes that point.

It is entirely possible that the officer, being behind Mr. Schubert’s car to see it pull out into traffic without using their turn signal, did not see the color of the driver until he approached the car, and then decided to give her just a warning because she was black.

This was not ‘clearly’ a case of racial profiling, which is used far too much as a pejorative label for just about everything in our society today.
