I am a military kid and I moved to Coronado last summer. In other cities that I have lived, not very many students biked to school and people weren’t able to bike to work due to the lack of bike lanes on major streets. I am impressed that Coronado does have bike lanes and it definitely helps when me and my siblings are biking to school.

However, certain streets that are quite busy for students biking to school and people biking to work do not have bike lines. Furthermore, I think that these streets could also use more crossing guards. My sister was hit by a parked motorist biking on Seventh street. This is an example of a street that I believe needs bike lanes.

I love our town and biking everywhere makes growing up here really fun. It would be great if the city could install more bike lanes to make it safer for everyone.

Sincerely,

There are certainly some terrible drivers in Coronado. I saw a young girl get hit while crossing 8th and Orange, last year. I saw a young boy get hit by a minivan on it's way into Vons. The extra lights and stop signs aren't doing much, it seems, but the police department may know better. In front of my house, there are accidents constantly because people charge the yellow light. Coronado drivers SLOW DOWN! Leave earlier. Don't be in such a hurry.
