Kudos To CYC

a letter from Rick Shaughnessy, Classroom Volunteer, Monarch School | Posted: Thursday, June 6, 2019 3:04 pm

Kudos to Coronado Yacht Club (CYC) for supporting the second annual Monarch School Seventh Grade Sailing Day last Friday.

We put 19 students and five staff members on the water in five boats for a great day on Glorietta and San Diego Bays. The Barrio Logan-based school is the only institution in the country dedicated to educating students impacted by homelessness.

We are so appreciative of CYC manager Lou Milioti, Junior Sailing Director Jill Powell and coaches Ansgar and Soenka for the club’s generous contribution of people, boats, safety equipment and refreshment. Hats off also to Steve and Susan Schelkun, Bob Stansell, Bill Plunkett, Jane Pederson, Curtis Shaub and Sylvia Shaughnessy for their generous contributions of boats, time and patience. Without the efforts of these members of our community, this event would not have been possible.

The memories will last many lifetimes.
