With the new California lock down I was feeling a bit helpless- - not for myself, but for my inability to tangibly assist others. We probably all know someone (friend, relative, or neighbor) who is living alone during this mandatory isolation. Social distancing for them is just short of complete isolation.

I have taken to calling all of the ones I know daily just to “check in,” to ensure they are still okay, to see if they need anything from the store or pharmacy, or if they are in need of any physical assistance. It takes all of five minutes or so. This simple gesture seems to be appreciated and to brighten their day. I encourage all of you to pick up the phone and to reach out to anyone who might be living through this alone. You will be surprised, it will brighten your day as well.
