On behalf of San Diego County veterans, we want to thank the Coronado businesses who donated for the recent screenings of “Normandy Jump 2019.” The documentary featured Coronado resident, U.S. Army 101st Airborne paratrooper Tom Rice and the community came out to support. The event was a fundraiser to enable Honor Flight San Diego to send World War II and Korea War veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials built for their service and sacrifice.

We’d like to thank Miguel’s Cocina, Clayton’s Bakery & Bistro, and Bruegger’s Bagels for providing wonderful food for those attending this fundraiser. Of course we could not do a film screening without a theater, and we’d like to thank Lance Alspaugh from The Village Theatre for donating the venue for both days.

When requesting donations, these local businesses quickly offered their services and shared their support of honoring veterans. When our veterans go on their “Tour of Honor” many say, “It was the best weekend of my life.” Thank you for helping to make this experience possible for more San Diego County World War II and Korea war veterans.

The Coronado community is welcome to attend our homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 6, 4:20 p.m. (arrive early) at the San Diego airport when 60 veterans return from their Honor Flight! We appreciate all the support!More information can be found at: www.honorflightsandiego.org.
