We would like to express our opposition, in the strongest possible way, to the possible mixed-use development in the Smart and Final lot. This would entail changing the zoning to allow residential units on that property, which is completely unacceptable. We understand that SANDAG has created a problem for the city, but this is not the solution. We foresee nothing but an exponential increase in the traffic flow for the entire island. Can you imagine the effects of dumping all of these cars into such a small area? There is absolutely no infrastructure to absorb what will undoubtedly be a catastrophic worsening of an already bad situation.

We trust that the city and the council will take the opinions of its citizens into serious consideration when debating how we will respond to the SANDAG edict. We encourage all Coronado residents to contact our council members regarding this issue.
