Like Susan Keith, I was disappointed by the pictures in the May 18th issue of the proposed changes for the La Avenida corner.

So I decided to drive by and remember the dozens of times with family and friends I’ve gone through those arches.

Alas, the colorful tiles that trimmed the front arch are gone.

Fortunately, the wonderful interior can be enjoyed at the library.

But creamed sweet breads and rhubarb pie can be savored only in memory.

Thank goodness, the hotel roof is still red.
