The CUSD School Board will conduct its second hearing on a plan to adopt a Black Lives Matter curriculum on racial re-education at the August 13 meeting. The Board received a petition supporting immediate action and heard testimony from over a dozen youth, and believes it has therefore heard from the community on the matter.

Many parents and grandparents have recently learned of these plans and object to this “rush to judgement.” We strongly urge the School Trustees to slow down amidst the pandemic, and carefully consider all alternatives, giving stakeholders more opportunity to make their voices heard. “The 1776 Initiative” and “The Third Option” are two options that need to be evaluated.

I urge all concerned grandparents, parents, students, and teachers to sign the following petition which will be presented at the Aug. 13 meeting: https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/cusd-school-childrens-lives-matter.
