At the Dec. 21 Council Meeting the City discussed a draft of their comment letter on the Port’s new Draft PMPU and PEIR. Despite the hard fought efforts by residents that stopped the Port from including new hotels in their current plans, the City is considering including a statement that would allow for “reasonable” expansions of hotel property for a “modest” number of additional rooms and/or conference space.

Why is the City back-tracking on their previous comments to the Port? The City stated over and over again we are a built-out residential community already being impacted by parking and traffic impacts, and for the Port to take a “balanced approach” with more focus on Coronado residents.

Why is the City now changing course? Residents once again are called upon to send in comments questioning the City’s actions prior to the Jan. 4 Council Meeting.

We were successful before on having our voices heard. Residents need to urge the City to not change what is in the current Draft PMPU that specifically states “No New Hotel Rooms” are planned or allowed at the North Coronado Bayfront or Silver Strand.
