The Coronado Fire Department based on the State Shelter In Place (SIP) Order Closed Crown City Cigar as “non-essential.”

I would like to argue that the SIP’s list of essential businesses is illegal and should not be followed. The SIP Order list as essential “Retail Marijuana Shops.” Regardless of what State law says, marijuana is illegal Federally, thus making it illegal everywhere in the U.S. By making an illegal product essential, the California Dept. of Public Health has shown that they are putting politics above common sense and public well being. I would like to encourage the Coronado City Council to allow Crown City Cigars to reopen for business similar to many liquor stores in town are open and not give in to the anti-tobacco pro marijuana politics coming out of Sacramento.

Additionally, based on the absurdity and politics of the SIP Order, City Council should do what they think is best for the city when it comes to opening business and our beaches.
