A Coronado Golf “Institution” has passed away.
Longtime assistant and head golf professional at the Coronado Golf course, Ron Yarbrough, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020. He was 76 years of age.
Ron began his golf professional career when he joined the staff of Head Professional John Ruedi, as an assistant professional in 1972. When John retired on May 31, 1995, Ron was selected as the new head professional. He tenure began June 1, 1995 and he retired Jan. 31, 2017. Ron spent a total of 45 years at the facility and was a longtime class A member of the Professional Golfers Association of America. An excellent golf instructor, he taught many students, the lifetime game of golf.
Ron possessed a plethora of wonderful attributes that defined the quality human being he portrayed: caring, kind, loving, humorous and witty. At the top of the list was his generous nature. Ron donated to local organizations of all types and to youth groups in conjunction with sports activities. he also sponsored various golf events at the Coronado Golf Course, including the yearly mixed couples event, beat the “pro” tournament and the “cup” matches. Ron was very generous with his family, friends, employees, and those who just needed a helping hand. A heart of gold, he possessed!
Over the years, thanks to golf, Ron acquired a lifetime of friends and acquaintances. Those of us that remain behind will never forget “RY,” and the attributes and characteristics that made such a positive impact on our lives. It is with heavy hearts and tears of sadness, that we all express the following sentiment:
So long, dear friend and loved one, until we meet again.
