Michael Schmid, formerly of Coronado, passed away in the early morning hours of Dec. 28, 2018. He died in the loving arms of his ex-wife, the love of his life, Kim, and being touched by their four children, his parents, brother, and several dear friends. He died on his terms, and it was exactly as it was supposed to be. It was a beautiful death.

Michael touched so many lives during his short 55 years. In true Michael Schmid form, he continues to give, even in his death, as he had his body donated to science for all the good they can make of it. So many get-togethers were held in anticipation of his passing that no public services are scheduled.

He was truly blessed to be loved and revered by so many and felt honored by the numbers who loved him. He is survived by his ex-wife, Kim Schmid; their four children, Chelsey Schmid, Joshua Schmid, Allie Schmid and Noah Schmid; his parents, Richard and Sue Schmid of Verona, Wisconsin; and two brothers, Mark (Elaine) Schmid, and Ryan (Kim) Schmid, also of Verona, Wisconsin.

He will be missed beyond words, but rejoice! Because the pain and suffering are gone and he is free and running and dancing in heaven.

Donations may be made in his honor toward the documentary that is being made called “Don’t Wait: The Michael Schmid Story” at https://www.gofundme.com/michaelschmid about his incredible life journey despite his illness, Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS).
