Mike Kephart, 84, passed peacefully at home in Coronado, CA on May 27, 2022, with his wife Carol by his side.
Mike was born on August 24, 1937 in Enid, Oklahoma to Virgil and Nina Mae Kephart.
After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1956. Shortly after being stationed in San Diego, he was aboard the USS Chowanoc where he was part of an operation in the Marshall Islands to test the Atom bomb.
In 1960 he quickly transitioned into the plumbing trade, where he worked for several different companies. In 1976 he established Kephart Plumbing. Mike worked in Coronado for 60+ years servicing the community he loved so dearly.
Mike never knew a stranger and considered everyone he met a friend. He was a hard-working small business owner, a loving husband, proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed spending time in the Coronado community. In his later years you could usually find him at the Coronado Golf Course, Brigantine or McP’s for lunch, to catch up with old friends. Mike is survived by his wife, Carol Kephart, his loving children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He made a big impact on this small town and will be truly missed by his family, friends, and the Coronado community. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, August 27 at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a Celebration of life to follow at McP’s Irish Pub from 2 to 5 p.m.
