John Sappenfield died on April 28, 2019 at Sharp Memorial Hospital with his wife Lora Fischer at his side.

John was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on March 10, 1965, the son of John Sappenfield and Karen Creason. He and his family moved to Coronado when he was in sixth grade. He then attended Coronado schools graduating from Coronado High School, class of 1983.

Sometime after graduating Coronado High School, he returned to Coronado where he joined the staff at Mulvaney’s waiting tables and later tending bar. He later joined the staff of Lora Fischer Cleaning Service in Coronado subsequently becoming a partner in the company. He continued working Lora until a few months before his death. Over the years, many knew him by his nickname “Sappy.”

John and Lora Fischer were married in 1993 having known each other since that first meeting in sixth grade.

John is survived by his wife Lora Fischer; his father John Sappenfield; his sisters Dana Chociej and Tina Mylius. He also leaves behind three nephews and a niece, as well as a great niece and nephew.

A celebration of life will be held at the Coronado VFW, 557 Orange Avenue, on Sunday, June 23 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
