Frances Rizza

Frances Rizza was born June 30, 1921, in Chicago. While growing up in a simple Italian family, she worked hard in the pecan plant that her parents opened and grew into a thriving business.

As a young adult she attended Our Lady of the Lake University in 1945 and received her bachelor of science in business administration. Her education continued at Northwestern University. She taught for a short time but when she moved west, she went into civil service where she was a secretary at North Island Naval Air station for 20 years. She was the Chula Vista Civil Service Commissioner in the late 60s.

After she retired, she moved to Coronado where she meet and married Adm. Joe Rizza, Ret.

Fran was active in the community with associations in toastmistress, the Coronado Hospital Foundation and was the co chair for the Annual hospital ball with her husband Joe in 2001.

She is survived by her son; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
