Dennis Bruce Fink

Dennis, a kind man who was a friend to all who met him, died peacefully in his home on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 after losing his battle with cancer.

Dennis was born in Lakehurst, New Jersey to Christian and Alice Fink. He was the second born of six children. Being a “Navy brat”, he spent the first 17 years of his life traveling to various states where his father was stationed. In 1966, upon his father’s retirement, he came with the family to Coronado and spent the rest of his life here. He attended the University of California at Santa Barbara and Mesa College. He worked at Cubic Corporation, worked sporting events for all the network broadcasts part time for several years and spent the last 20 years at UCSD before retiring in 2016.

Dennis loved sports, movies, cooking and tinkering. Back in the 1970’s he was making the carts to pull your kids in on your bike. Later he was making neon signs for his friends. He was a loyal friend who would help anyone that was in need. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by both his parents and his brother Russell. He is survived by his sons Adam (Maria) and Jon (Robin); his two granddaughters, Elin and Charlotte whom he loved with all his heart; his wife April Atkinson and her two daughters Jessica and Megan Chiesman (who were like daughters to him); and siblings Donna Young, Don, Fred and Buzz Fink and one nephew and three nieces.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McP’s Irish Pub on March 21 at 4 p.m.
