So far this season, the Islander Girls Volleyball Team is undefeated, a series of victories which includes a four set win over Helix, another four set win over Serra and a three set win over Hilltop last Wednesday. All three contests are non-league matches. The Islander’s Eastern League schedule starts in late September.

“Our middle Liz Hunsacker and our outside hitter Caitlin Kane are really playing well,” said Islander Head Coach Adeile Ahmu. “And our serving has been really tough. We are capitalizing on that skill. The majority of our points come from our serves, although we are also playing good defense. Our setters Jenna Tocorzic and Sarah Acuff have been consistent. They are running a quick offense. The Girls are adjusting well.”

This week, the Islanders schedule ramps up with a match at Montgomery Tuesday, a home match with Patrick Henry Wednesday at 5 p.m., and then Coronado will participate in the September Classic over the weekend. Ahmu explained, “The tournament is at Westview Friday and Saturday. It’s a big tournament with a lot of Open and Division I teams. We’re a young team. I’m seeing discipline on the team. There is a lot of volleyball to be played this week.”
