Playing a tough schedule this season, including their participation in the Western League, the Islander Boys Tennis Team (6-9 overall record, 5-5 Western League) earned the No. 7 seed in the CIF Division I Team Playoffs, which began Tuesday.

Head Coach Mackenzie White announced her starting lineups as: No. 1 singles Jorge Yanez, No. 2 Isaac Del Rincon and No. 3 singles Tye Murree. The doubles lineup will consist of No. 1 Jake Lamb/Andres de la Lama; No. 2 Santi Gonzalez/Ryan Wood and No. 3 doubles Mauricio Rivero/Nathaniel Nelson. Coach White added, “Our other three players are Nicolas Rios in singles and the doubles team of Chris Fisher/Alan Corrales, who will be ready to join the lineup.”

As their opponent in the first round, Coronado drew the No. 10 seed Francis Parker. White said, “We beat them earlier this season, but they didn’t have their whole team. It will be closer this time.”

Should Coronado prevail, they will likely face No. 2 seed Rancho Bernardo Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Quarter-Finals, at Rancho Bernardo High School.
