The Souper Bowl Of Caring ...

On Sunday, Feb. 2, the Coronado High School and Coronado Middle School Junior Optimist Clubs participated in a nation wide event called “The Souper Bowl of Caring.” While many people were enjoying the big game with plenty to eat, there are others in our community that go hungry. That’s where these Junior Optimists come in to help. During the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl game, the campaign began to collect non- perishable food items. With the last day for collections being Super Bowl Sunday, club members scoured the community with wagons in hand going door to door soliciting community members to donate food items. This year 1480 items were collected which were provided to Pastor Johns’ Food Locker at the Southern Baptist Church of Coronado. The Junior Optimists would like to thank the Optimist Club of Coronado, along with special thanks to partners Sweat Equity and Coronado Beauty Lounge and of course all the Coronado residents with whom the success of this special event would not be possible. Thank you, Coronado.
