It’s that time of year in Coronado. Our Marine Corps League Detachment is hosting its third annual Oktoberfest, Saturday, Oct. 16, at VFW Post 2422, 557 Orange Avenue, from 4 to 9 p.m.

Some of the highlights that you won’t want to miss out on will be live accordion “oompah” all day long; a silent auction with all kinds of “locals only” prizes; bratwurst cooked by the infamous Sgt. Patrick Duffey, USMC; and locally sourced and homemade Tuefel Hunden Sauerkraut. There will also be a potato salad contest. Come prepared to feed 12 and if you impress our judge, local Cheffy Chef, Clyde Van Arsdal, you could win Amazon give cards, first place $100, second place $50, or third place $25.

Tickets are $20/plate and beer and can be bought online at or at the door the night of the event. Proceeds will support you Coronado Marines, Marine Corps League Detachment 1468. Sponsored by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2422. We look forward to seeing you all there!
