Do you know someone who loves to visit the library but is unable to get there? Do you miss checking out library materials? The library is bringing back service for homebound patrons that it has not offered for over five years.

Homebound Services is a program pairing a reader who is no longer able to make it into the library with a volunteer who will deliver materials to them monthly. This program is available to all Coronado residents with mobility issues.

Librarians will work with readers to understand their current reading interests and make note of their favorite authors and genres. Materials will be selected based on the patron’s reading preferences. Library materials will check out for four weeks and can be renewed by telephone. For more information about how to participate in our Homebound Services program, please call (619) 522-7390 or email Eileen Lawson at elawson@cornoado.ca.us.

Are you looking to volunteer? The Coronado Public Library is looking for additional volunteers to deliver materials to homebound patrons throughout the city. Take a moment and stop by the Reference Desk for an application and learn more about the program. Volunteer drivers will be required to undergo a background check and provide proof of insurance. As a volunteer you will enable the library to extend its materials to members of our community unable to visit by themselves. Please call or email Franklin Escobedo at fescobedo@coronado.ca.us.
