The Coronado High School Navy Junior ROTC program is looking for new members for the 2020-2021 school year.

Coronado High School’s Navy Junior ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps), referred to as “Islander Company,” was started in September of 2003. NJROTC Cadets take a “Naval Science” class each year that focuses on leadership, naval history and operations, and physical training.

It’s also important to know that the class counts for the high school’s PE requirement. After school, cadets may join teams such as armed and unarmed drill teams, color guard, academic team, orienteering, and more. Islander Company also participates in community service projects and Coronado community parades and celebrations.

Islander Company is an invaluable part of the community and the cadets’ lives, and needs a few more members in order to continue this year. The program is inclusive, and many participants go on to earn scholarships.

If you are a CHS student or parent of a student who is interested in joining, please contact Kelly Murray at khmurray02@gmail.com.
