On Thursday, March 30, FOCUS will present an enjoyable and informative evening in support of literacy solutions for San Diego children. Special guest speaker will be Jose L. Cruz, CEO for the San Diego Council on Literacy, a model urban literacy coalition. Past recipient of such awards as “Educator of the Year” and “Civic Leader of the Year,” Cruz is also the co-host of the podcast “The Gap Minders.”
The program will address the challenges local illiterate children face. FOCUS will also share how it has built strong partnerships with local literacy agencies and how those passionate about children and literacy can get involved in a special FOCUS program to be announced that evening. The evening will be from 5 to 8 p.m. and include a choice of three plated meals in the gorgeous surroundings of Coronado Cays Yacht Club, a raffle for Gala tickets, and a cocktail hour to visit with those who share an interest in child literacy concerns.
