The Coronado Cultural Arts Commission presents an exhibition and sale of works by one of Coronado’s most beloved and prolific artists, Sue Tushingham McNary. “Coronado Celebrates Sue Tushingham McNary” Opening Reception is set for Friday, Sept. 11, from 7 to 9 p.m. The sale will continue Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Coronado Library Winn Room.

Tushingham McNary owned and operated her own gallery at the world famous Hotel del Coronado for more than 18 years. She is a familiar name to collectors who have discovered in her works of art colorful tranquility, warmth and sensitivity. She is renowned for her depiction of local landmarks, particularly the Hotel del Coronado and her floral scenes. She has become one of Southern California’s most widely collected and respected artists.

Tushingham McNary’s works enjoy considerable popularity in private and corporate collections. Hundreds of her pieces sail the seas worldwide in wardrooms, captain’s and admiral’s cabins of Navy ships. Corporate offices, hotels, restaurants and banks have added Sue’s work to their permanently displayed collections.

Many of her originals are included in the permanent collections of several cities as well as the National Archives in Washington D.C. Sue’s works are also in the private collections of Prince Charles, Michael Douglas and Dr. Robert Schuller.

The Commission is delighted to present an extensive exhibition of original oils by this talented artist and Coronado treasure. An unprecedented 30-plus original paintings will be offered for sale along with miniatures and cards, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Cultural Arts Commission. Additionally, a selection of signed prints of her iconic images, generously donated by Tushingham McNary will be offered for sale. If you have ever wanted a Sue Tushingham McNary original now is the time to get one. In honor of Coronado Celebrates 125 years, McNary will donate an original painting to the City of Coronado for its permanent public art collection.
