Placing A Memorial Wreath ...

McP’s Irish Pub manager Ted Taylor, and his daughter Mallory Joan Taylor, place a memorial wreath at the foot of the tribute in memory of Ted’s father, Capt. Edmund B. (“Ted”) Taylor Jr. The senior Taylor died in 1972 when his helicopter went down in the Gulf of Tonkin while on special ops during the Vietnam War.

The 2019 Memorial Day tribute in Star Park was one of those special and heartwarming, storybook-like events, leaving nary a dry eye in the place. There was drama, history, laughter and the ultimate storyline. Hundreds gathered Monday morning to honor our fallen soldiers and sailors. This event never gets old, never gets tired. It just gets more emotional, better-attended, and more appreciated with each passing year. Granted, fewer and fewer of the old guard are in attendance. Like war, time has taken its toll on them. But their memories will never be forgotten.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Coronado Post 2422, did a tremendous job of honoring our fallen. May they never be forgotten. May we never forget.
