Coronado resident, Zoe Hunt, was crowned Miss California Teen USA 2020 at the Acadia Performing Arts Center in Arcadia, California, Jan 26, 2020. This marks the first time a Coronado resident has won the title, and now Hunt will go on to represent California at the Miss Teen USA pageant later this year.
After being named first runner up at Miss California Teen USA 2019 at just 16 years old, Hunt returned to win in 2020. A 17 year old senior attending Coronado High School, Hunt has a 4.6 GPA and is an elected officer of National Honors Society.
As a young girl, Hunt danced ballet and performed in “The Nutcracker” at both the San Diego Civic Theatre and Spreckels Theatre. She also dabbled in acting and was in a feature film and a couple of commercials as well as having done some modeling and print work. Later, Hunt discovered her true passion as a competitive kayaker. She has received multiple medals in both Bronze and Silver at the U.S.A. Nationals for Sprint Kayaking. She is a member of the Olympic Development Team and co-captain of her racing team.
Hunt has a strong work ethic and held the position of Guest Experience Liaison at the Hotel Del Coronado this past summer. She gained valuable work experience and loved that she got to wear a suit for her first job.
Hunt is thrilled to embark on her year as Miss California Teen USA 2020. She would really like to use her position to advocate for two causes that are near and dear to her heart. As a competitive kayaker, Hunt is very passionate about getting our youth outside and active. She believes being active benefits not only the physical but mental health of our youth. She wants to focus her reign on creating opportunities for our youth to find their passion for the outdoors. Hunt also wants to use her year to advocate for Pancreatic Cancer research in hopes of finding a cure. After her father was diagnosed last year, she vowed to do what she can to bring more awareness about this type of cancer. She says her family was given a second chance on life and a true miracle as her dad’s tumor type was rare and more treatable with surgery. However, she knows others aren’t as fortunate and really wants to do what she can to bring more awareness about this disease.
Hunt will go on to compete at Miss Teen USA in the summer of 2020. Exact location and date have not been released yet. Follow her journey on Instagram at @misscateenusa or on Facebook at Miss California Teen USA.
