Four new members, Jon Balousek, Sue Cunningham, Virginia Nelson and Alan Schulman, were elected to the University of San Diego (USD) Board of Trustees, effective July 1, 2020.

“It is a pleasure to welcome each of these business and civic leaders to the Board,” said President James T. Harris III. “Our strategic plan, Envisioning 2024, requires bold leadership, and we know these distinguished leaders will help guide USD in setting the standard for an engaged, contemporary Catholic university.”

Nelson USD class of ‘79 (JD), a resident of Coronado, is a former trial attorney who headed her own litigation firm for more than 30 years. She is past president of the San Diego County Bar Association. Since graduation from University of San Diego School of Law cum laude, Nelson has been continually active at the School of Law as an adjunct professor and supporter of multiple scholarships and a graduation prize for law students.

Two trustees, Luis Maizel and James D. Power IV ‘85, will be rotating off the Board after serving for 15 and 9 years, respectively.
