Did you know that Coronado was named one of the best places in the country for Halloween trick or treating in 2017? Every year more and more people descend upon our Crown City to enjoy the Halloween festivities in our town! And the next day, the Halloween hangover is real!

Not only are we exhausted, spooked out and hyperglycemic, our town is littered with candy wrappers, pumpkin smatterings, costume parts and more. So like any good party, we must clean up!

The Coronado Junior Woman’s Club has created the inaugural Halloween Treat Sweep to take place the morning of November 1st to combat the Halloween trash aftermath. Grab a trash bag and a neighbor, friend or family member and clean up your block before, or on your way to work or school. Volunteers & collection bins will be at every school during drop-off to take your trash and give you a thumbs up for doing your part in keeping our community beautiful.

Participating schools are: Coronado High School, Coronado Middle School, Village Elementary, Silver Strand Elementary, ECDC, Crown Preschool, Christ Church Day School, Sacred Heart Parish School, Graham Memorial Preschool and Resurrection Preschool.

And if you aren’t on your way to school or work but just out for a walk, you too can participate! Collect your trash and join the Emerald Keepers and the MOM’s Club of Coronado at Spreckels Park from 8-10 a.m. to drop off your trash. Coffee (don’t forget your reusable cup), treats and neighborly conversation will be served.

And as you hunt the neighborhood for rubbish be on the lookout for the 10 Golden Tickets! Find one and you’ll not only receive a high five, but a tasty surprise.
