The community is invited to select one of five shortlisted titles to be the 2021 Coronado Community Read. Votes can be cast online at Comment Coronado or by paper at the library, Bay Books or the Coronado Historical Association between now and Monday, Dec. 14.

Presented in no ranked order, the top five books are “The Warmth of Other Suns” by Isabel Wilkerson, “Born a Crime” by Trevor Noah, “Stamped from the Beginning” by Ibram X. Kendri, “Small Great Things” by Jodi Picoult, and “All the Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr.

In September, the Coronado Community Read Committee asked Coronado to nominate books that would be engaging as a shared community experience. Over 45 unique books were submitted spanning a wide range of subjects and genres. A committee then narrowed down those titles with the help of local Coronado Book Clubs to reach the final shortlist. The final shortlist contains the titles that were considered to have the broadest community appeal, compelling narrative, largest availability, and timely content.
