The John D. Spreckels Center has an abundance of creative, soothing and tasty summer fun for everyone.

On Monday, July 8, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Join award-winning designer Maribel Herrera for this month’s Seasonal Floral Design class. Learn how to make a cheery topiary style arrangement featuring sunflowers, spray roses, solid aster, greenery and fresh lemons. $35 for residents/ $45 for nonresidents, plus a $25 materials fee payable to the instructor on the day of class. Pre-plan and sign up for the next Seasonal Floral Design class on August 5 where you will learn to design a Hawaiian inspired arrangement.

Pull up a yoga mat and take a break from the weekly grind in the new Rejuvenating Yoga and Meditation class on Saturdays, July 6, 13, 20 and 27, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Learn how to gain mobility and inner peace using your breath, your body and your mind. Cost: Just $32 for residents/ $40 for nonresidents for all four July classes. Remember to bring your yoga mat!
Get an extra dose of kindness and compassion in a 30-minute Meditation and Relaxation experience on Monday July 8 and Aug. 12, from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. Meditative reflection, guided visualization, stillness, and gentle breath work will be explored in each session. No prior experience is necessary. Cost: $3 for residents/ $4 for nonresidents.

“Vegetables for Carnivores” are on the menu in this month’s installment of Cooking with Cyndi, which takes place on Wednesday, July 31, 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. In this unique, hands-on class taught by Chef Cyndi Burgunder, you’ll learn how to prepare strawberry and leek quesadillas, creamy grains with roasted Portobello mushrooms and peanut butter pretzel tartlets. Cost: $59 for residents/ $70 for nonresidents. Call now to reserve your spot, and be sure to mark your calendars for the last summertime Cooking with Cyndi class on August 21, “Clean and Light Eating.”
