With the COVID-19 restrictions, small brick and mortars have had to adjust shopping experiences for customers and Scottish Treasures Celtic Corner is no exception.
“We want to make our customers and staff feel safe,” said owner Tricia Locke of Scottish Treasures Celtic Corner. “When restrictions were lifted for in store shopping, we immediately rearranged our aisles to provide safe distancing, added a mandatory contactless sanitizing station for those wanting to ‘touch’ product in the shop, advocated mandatory mask wearing, and went to completely contactless credit card processing.”
These are just some of the measures that were implemented, along with limitations on the number of people allowed in the shop at one time.
Locke said many customers want to try on jewelry, especially the rings. In order to keep things sanitized, the staff clean each piece before putting it away. They also ask customers to sanitize hands before trying on the rings.
“We have a lot of jackets and lovely clothing that we would want people to try on before buying. So these items are sprayed with Lysol, steamed, and then left to hang dry for 24 hours.”
Celtic Corner firmly believes that they offer a very safe shopping environment and have better control of the experience than any large department store. The staff are diligent with continual cleaning and wiping down of door handles and display cases. They still offer one-on-one shopping for those who prefer to have a specific appointment along with curbside pick up.
Scottish Treasures Celtic Corner is open seven days a week, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Visit them at 916 Orange Avenue or online at www.celticcorner.net.
