Primavera Ristorante, located at 932 Orange Avenue, will mark its 30th anniversary with a celebratory five-course dinner benefiting 22KILL on Tuesday, June 25.

The popular family-owned and operated Italian restaurant has long been a cornerstone of the Coronado and San Diego communities. Husband and wife, Cristos and Jeannette Stavros, opened Primavera in 1989. Now operated by Jeannette and the couple’s daughter, Denise Stavros, the restaurant has served generations of San Diegans and their families.

The evening will begin with a celebratory glass of Prosecco, followed by the choice between crostini bagna cauda, crostini topped with grilled eggplant, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, Montrachet, Grana Padano and light anchovy sauce; or calamari Luciana, calamari sautéed in garlic, butter, white wine, tomatoes and fresh herbs.

For the second course, guests may select insalata alla gorgonzola, hearts of romaine topped with crumbled Italian gorgonzola, tomatoes, crispy pancetta and balsamic vinaigrette; or insalata caprese, vine-ripened tomatoes, endive, Bufala mozzarella, basil and red onion topped with extra virgin olive oil drizzle.

Risotto alla punta di asparagi, asborio rice with fresh asparagus and shiitake mushrooms cooked in a light broth; and tagliatelle adriatico, tagliatelle with shrimp, scallops, fresh tomatoes, basil, garlic and butter; will serve as options for the third course.

Entrée options include the choice between scampi primavera, scampi sautéed in an egg wash, served with wild mushrooms, champagne sauce and creamy parmesan polenta; pollo campagnola, marinated grilled chicken breast with sun-dried tomatoes, kalamata olives, balsamic vinaigrette sauce and crumbled goat cheese served over spinach; vitello scaloppini al marsala, veal medallions sautéed with fresh mushrooms and Marsala wine; or filetto al pepe verde, seared filet mignon with a brandy-cream green peppercorn sauce, served with roasted rosemary red potatoes.

Dinner will conclude with the option of tiramisu, espresso-soaked lady fingers layered with rum mascarpone cream and dark chocolate; lemon berry ricotta cake, vanilla cake with lemon curd, sweet ricotta cream, fresh raspberry and blackberry; or cannoli, the traditional tube pastry shell with a sweet ricotta and mascarpone cream filling, topped with mini chocolate chips.

The anniversary menu is priced at $85 per person. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to 22KILL, a nonprofit organization that raises awareness and combats suicide by empowering veterans, first responders and their families through traditional and non-traditional therapies.

Seating is limited and reservations are available by calling 619.435.0454. More information about the anniversary dinner and the complete menu are available at
