An all-new experiential dining series will be offered at Seréa with a focus on an issue near and dear Executive Chef JoJo Ruiz’s heart: sustainably raised and caught seafood. The James Beard Smart Catch Leader will launch Winter Waters: A Sustainable Series by JoJo + Friends at Serea, the City’s newest sea-to-table dining experience at the historic Hotel del Coronado beginning Dec. 2.

San Diego’s only sustainability-focused dinner series will bring some of the country’s most talented and acclaimed chefs to San Diego for the series that will take place the first Monday of each month, December 2019 – March 2020, with a portion of proceeds from each dinner benefiting like minded charities like Surfrider Foundation. The series aims to shine a spotlight on the local and regional fishermen from Tuna Harbor Dockside Market, Catalina Offshore Products, Baja California’s Pacifico Aquaculture, and other local and regional purveyors -- all of whom are doing their part to preserve sustainable catch practices across the industry.

Kicking off the series on December 2 from 6-9PM, Ruiz will be joined by James Beard Foundation Rising Star Chef, Nate Appleman, and former Bravo’s Top Chef “cheftestant” Chad White, who’s owned and operated successful restaurants in San Diego, Tijuana and Spokane, Washington.

Looking ahead to 2020, the lineup includes: Jan. 6 with Chef James Syhadout who holds two Michelin Stars for Commis in Oakland, California, the city’s most critically acclaimed restaurant; Feb. 4 with Chef Gabe Erales who helms the kitchen of the acclaimed Dai Due Taqueria and Comedor in Austin; March 2 with Chef José Luis Hinostroza, who is executive chef for ARCA in Tulum, and was formerly part of the research and development team of Rene Redzepi’s culinary mecca Noma Mexico.

Each dinner will be $120 per person and the menu will feature five seafood-forward dishes complete with libation pairings.
