Daniel Gensler, MSF, CFP®, president and founder of The Gensler Group in Coronado received Honorable Mention in the 13th Annual Invest in Others Awards for his philanthropic contributions to Missionvale USA. As a result, Missionvale USA will receive a $1,000 donation from Invest in Others in Gensler’s honor.

The Invest in Others Charitable Foundation established its awards program to recognize the charitable work of financial advisors in communities across the country and around the world. Gensler was chosen due to his admirable role in impacting the poor and marginalized of Missionvale, South Africa.

Missionvale (MVCC) is a shack land township and home to 120,000 people. The residents share communal outhouses with a bucket toilet system and 19 communal water taps where poverty and disease are rampant. There are very few recognizable roads, no access to electricity, over 70% of residents are unemployed and an estimated 80% of the population is infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS.

Since 2008, Gensler has been making an impact both locally and globally to secure funding, educate, inspire, and encourage others to get involved. Gensler has secured $206,180 through seven Rotary grants that have provided funding for medicine, medical supplies, nutrition, adult education and transportation. Additionally the grants have provided computers, tools and other resources needed for basic education.

Gensler was instrumental in bringing TOMS Shoes to MVCC. Since 2010 over 350,000 pairs of shoes have been given to MVCC and placed on the infectious cracked feet of thousands of children. Most of them had been walking barefoot their entire life, feet caked with dust, cuts, infections, scabies, thorns, and even pieces of glass.

Gensler is co-founder and treasure of Missionvale USA, which has generated over $250,000 for Missionvale Care Center. In addition to raising funds, Gensler has organized four mission trips accompanied by 35 supporters. As a tribute to the people of Missionvale, Gensler and his daughter Brooke Gensler walked the Camino De Santiago, a 500 mile, 30 day journey through northern Spain. They called their pilgrimage “Miles for Missionvale.” Friends and family were inspired by their efforts and donated $14,000.

The Gensler Group is a Wealth Management Firm serving the Coronado community since 1995.
