After a long career as a Corporate Merchandising Executive, Pat Marshall relocated to Coronado. As the daughter of a Navy pilot, this was a place she visited throughout her life and where she hoped to retire. Once she made her home in Coronado, she pursued her passion for home décor and decorating in 2010 by filling the empty store space that is now Côtier.
Côtier is celebrating a happy and incredible milestone on Thanksgiving 2020. Marshall and her team have been working closely with locals and vacation homeowners on the island bringing coastal style and comfort to their homes for the past 10 years.
“Côtier is French for “coastal,” said Marshall, “and the classic, eclectic styles of the homes on the French and Italian Riviera are my inspiration. We work to bring a selection of home décor that combines style and comfort along with custom design ideas to our clientele.”
“Côtier has a wonderful staff,” said Marshall with pride. “They share my passion to bring a special and welcome service to our clients.”
Marshall went through the list of her staff. “Claudia Osorio [is my] right hand and has an incredible eye as a decorator. She has a great personality, great taste, is fluent in Spanish, and she just does it all. Carol Wilson is a long time Islander and has been a part of Côtier from day one. She helps bring the vision from concept to completion. Gail Schadendorf is our part time employee and a valuable part of this complete team as well.”
Marshall is thrilled to be celebrating 10 years in Coronado, but it has not been easy in 2020. “We are trying not to focus on the negative part of this year. We are happy to have community support and be able to maintain our business while continuing to offer new inventory to our clients. People are staying close to home now and we, like other stores in Coronado, want to promote shopping local and we always welcome clients new and old. We realize that many are taking this time to do some home decorating or remodeling and Côtier is there to help. You can look at our website for ideas of what we carry in our store, look at the various lines and products that we provide, and start to research ideas for your home.”
When you enter Côtier you quickly realize that the size of the store is small but the impact that it brings to the customer is large. The store is filled with coastal colors and styles with anything from couches and chairs, to tables, rugs, paintings, lamps and almost any décor you can imagine to fit your home’s style and personal taste.
“We have evolved over the years as a store,” said Marshall, “but we have stayed true to my ideas for the store and are tailored mostly to coastal décor. We also offer traditional or contemporary styles that can work in different homes”.
Marshall has the talents and the ability to change with the times as styles, fabrics, colors and overall décor changes and Côtier reflects that. “After spending lots of time in Europe I quickly came to realize that homes are about incorporating style into livable and comfortable homes. I am always willing to change my purchasing of items for the store, based on trends and styles. I am dedicated to working with our clients to create an environment that is pleasant and livable while ultimately giving them a beautiful home.”
Celebrate Thanksgiving and Côtier’s 10 years in Coronado by stopping by the store. They will be open on Thanksgiving, showcasing new merchandise and with special offers for their customers. As usual, there is much inventory with select products that can be purchased from the floor and items can always be custom ordered. Côtier provides small town service by working closely with clients and listening to what they want for their home.
Entering the world of calming coastal colors and a welcoming assortment of comfort that you will have a hard time not taking with you to become a part of your home.
