With help from City staff, two people were arrested this week suspected of several vehicle burglaries. On Wednesday afternoon, a man and woman were seen taking a purse from a parked vehicle on Ocean Boulevard. A witness called police with a good description of the suspects, vehicle model and license plate number which came back to a stolen car. At the same time, Coronado Police received a call that one of our police senior volunteer patrol teams reported a stolen iPad from the same area. The City’s IT administrator, along with investigative staff, tracked the iPad to a fast food restaurant in San Diego. Patrol officers with the assistance of San Diego Police contacted the suspects and located the stolen items, and numerous other items that had been taken from several vehicle burglaries in Coronado earlier that morning. The couple was arrested; the man on burglary, grand theft auto, misappropriation of property and possession of stolen property charges. The woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Both were taken to jail.
