On Aug. 20, 2019, a bicycle that was locked to a fence near the Windsor Cottage of the Hotel Del Coronado was stolen by an unknown person. The bicycle was registered on a website called bikeindex.org and valued at $6,000. On Sept. 29, the owner of the stolen bicycle received a message from someone who said he saw the bicycle at a swap meet in Tijuana. After checking bikeindex.org, the man found it was stolen and the victim’s contact information. The victim then called Police. Det. Amy Beebe reached out to the San Diego Police Department’s International Liaison Detective who coordinated with Tijuana Police to locate and recover the stolen bicycle from the swap meet. Det. Beebe, Sergeant Shawn O’Neill and the San Diego detective drove to the border where Tijuana Police delivered the recovered stolen bicycle.
