A new collection service for retired American flags will launch on Flag Day, Friday, June 14, at the Coronado Library. Coronado residents who wish to dispose of their American flags will be able to place them in a new collection box in the Library’s lobby. The box will supplement an existing service offered by the Coronado VFW. In honor of Flag Day and to launch the new collection box, the Library is holding a concert of patriotic music performed by the Left Coast Quintet on the library lawn at 1 p.m. The community is invited. The box is being provided by San Diego County and will initially be serviced by the Boy Scouts, with the VFW as back up.
