SAFE will be staring the new year with a Coffee Talk with Dr. Mark Katz on Monday, Jan. 13 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the CUSD Board Room, 201 Sixth Street.

Katz is back by popular demand and he will be discussing executive function, including ways students can learn to improve and/or navigate challenges with paying attention, organizing, planning and prioritizing, starting tasks and staying focused on them to completion. He will also touch on the value of understanding different points of view, regulating emotions and self monitoring (keeping track of what you are doing).

Katz is a clinical and consulting psychologist and director of Learning Development Services, an educational psychological and neuropsychological center. He has authored “Children Who Fail at School but Succeed at Life: Lessons of Lives Well-Lived” and “On Playing a Poor Hand Well.”
